Brecon RFC 60 - Abertillery 10

On a sunny morning in Brecon, Abertillery were the visitors. Brecon won the toss and decided to receive the kickoff.

From the start Brecon showed their intent, their tackles were ferocious and hard yards were being made from direct strong running. Abertillery were slow to react and Brecon made the breakthrough in a matter of minutes scoring the first try. A short break down the blindside from Charlie, who had Rhodri in support a quick offload released Rhodri and from the halfway he showed great power, braking tackles to score the first try.

The second followed quickly a great turnover in midfield from Rhys Peters, fed Charlie who entered the tackle area and after 20 seconds he reemerged out the other side, he out stretched the cover defence to score Brecon's second.

Abertillery were not to be outdone, and came at Brecon showing they too could gain hard yards, but with the ball spilling allowed Brecon the chance to counter attack, Owain received the ball in broken play and weaved his way to the line to score Brecon's third.

Brecon's fourth try was again started in open play, Ethan, Cynog and Louis drove into Abertillery and the ball was again worked to Owain who stretched his legs towards the line, just to be caught short but released Ryan who scampered over in the corner.

Rhodri scored 2 more and Owain finished the half off to lead 7 tries -0 at the break. The second half was much the same with Luke Watts, Rhys Mills, KD and Joseph securing good ball at the breakdown. Luke Price finished a solid display with 2 well worked tries, Luke Watts, Louis and Ryan also getting on the score sheet in the second half. Abertillery kept working hard to the very end and they also scored two very well work tries.
