SUNDAY
7th March 2010
BRECON
U14 - 39 v Towcaster U14 - 33
A beautiful sunny but cold day welcomed the visiting team from Towcester.
The game that followed was played in a typical touring way with good
running rugby played by both sides with very little indiscipline.
A 12.00 kick off and both sides spent five minutes sounding each other
out until a crunching tackle by Tom Salisbury resulted in a line out
five metres from the Towcester try line which was won by Brecon at the
front, passed to Tom Hughes who drove for the line scoring the first
try of the day. This was not converted. From the kick off Brecon secured
the ball and from the half way line Grant Bragg showed good speed and
footwork to waltz around the Towcester defence and score a great individual
try which was converted by Keiron Elliot. Five minutes later and it is
starting to look a little one sided as Tom Hughes goes over for his second
try after some good play from the forwards. How wrong can you be! Over
the last ten minutes of the half Towcester fight back with some good
running rugby from the backs and three unanswered tries which are converted
and lead to the sides going in at half time Brecon 17 – Towcester
21.
The second half was a reverse of the first with Towcester scoring two
more tries with one conversion. Brecon however would not give up and
scored four more tries with one conversion. One of the tries consisted
of a fantastic 40mtr kick by Keiron Elliot with Grant Bragg following
up to score a great try. Two tries were scored by Keiron Deacon and
one by Sam Francis. This was a great team effort and all the players
should be proud of themselves.
A tremendous game enjoyed by all concerned.
