Brecon Under 14 34 - Abergavenny Under 14 30

Brecon Under 14's welcomed Abergavenny Under 14's to Parc de Pugh for the return fixture. Brecon secured a narrow win at Bailey Park back in January but with key players on Christ College Rugby duty, a tough challenge to repeat the earlier victory faced the Brecon side.

The home team started well with scrum half Dan Hiscocks breaking the Abergavenny defence and scoring the opening try in the far corner.

Abergavenny soon leveled the scores with some skillful attacking play and then extended their lead with further tries.

Brecon's defence was stretched on a number of occasions and the well drilled Abergavenny forwards placed the home team under constant pressure and consequently  dominated territory and added to the scoreboard by recording three further tries.

However, a late breakaway try from speedster Ben Griffin allowed the home team to claw back points to end the first half trailing by 10 points to 20.

Brecon have suffered from slow starts previously giving themselves too much of a points deficit to win games. However, after the welcome interval it was the rejuvenated home team that started to claw back the arrears. Matthew Williams, Jacob Beetham and Tom Price made menacing runs through the centre of the pitch gaining valuable yards and allowing Ben Griffin to secure two further tries - both converted by Dan Hiscocks.

Jack Jones kept his scoring tally over the last few games ticking over with another well worked try and finally Iwan Havard also got his name on the score sheet, delivering a mighty stretched arm to place the ball over the try line.

Abergavenny responded with s score during the last play of the match but Brecon scraped home with a 34 points to 30 win.
