BRECON RFC ANNUAL AWARDS 2008 Although the season 2007/08 was hardly one that will be long remembered as far as Brecon’s senior teams were concerned, there were a number of notable achievements. The Awards Dinner, held at the club, was well attended and provided the perfect opportunity to congratulate individuals and to give thanks.
Rick was pleased to be on hand to present the Don Howe Achievement Award to Lewis Smout who played for Wales in the Under 16 Four Nations Tournament held in France. Lewis was part of the Grand Slam winning team at that Tournament and is undoubtedly is a future star. His potential has been recognised at Regional level where he has been invited to join the Blues Elite Development Squad. The Award to the team scoring the highest number of points during the season went to the 1st XV. Unsurprisingly this year the points total was modest by previous standards with the team recording a 43 to 26 points victory at Treorchy. In presenting the award Club President Ron Rowsell stated, “The win at Treorchy was outstanding. We scored six great tries in a match that was of the highest calibre and clearly illustrated the potential that is there to be built on next season.”

the final act of the 2007/08 season now completed the club can look forward
to the new season with renewed vigour. Training will start in July with
the seniors continuing under the direction of Hefin Williams and Martin
Keylock while Brian Pritchard will be joined by Tony Price who has previously
successfully worked with every age group from 8 to 16. With Brian he will
look to continue that success with the Youth Squad.
