Brecon youth put in a excellent performance away at the mighty Ystrad Rhondda and returned home with a more than creditable bonus point in defeat.
Saturday's clash at Ystrad Rhondda was always going to be a tough ask, Ystrad, tradionationally are a strong side and had obviously recruited well in the Summer. The Brecon boys battled hard against throughout the whole game against horrid weather conditions and a well organised Ystrad side.
Early exchanges resulted in a Brecon lead 7 to 5 following a Josh Pritchard try which was converted by Ryan Williams. Ystrad battled hard and got themselves into 17 to 12 lead at half time
Brecon regrouped after the break and controlled the second half and a great score from Tom Richards and started to take control of the game. Ystrad responded with a try and held on for a nervy win.
Many positives emerged from todays encounter, all players involved gave their all and did not take a backward step and this level of performance will prove to be a great yard stick for the rest of the season ahead. All 21 squad members contributed to a great alround team performance which saw us play some of our best rugby of tge season so far, partucularly in the first half and in particular we asked many questions of the mighty Ystrad Rhondda.
There were some inspiring performances from Henry Morgan Gervis , Tom Richards, Josh Pritchard, Tom Young and inparticular today's man of the match Josh Hamilton who was involved in the majourity of Brecons main threats
Trys scored by - Josh Pritchard - 2, Tom Richards - 1
Conversions Ryan Williams - 1
Well done all on a great effort today next up it is Gwernyfed at home next Saturday in the Welsh Cup, bring it on!
Tom
