I am sure that all of our regular supporters enjoyed the match against Builth. We produced some great running rugby and personally I am still buzzing afterv this fantastic performance and victory.(Leigh Savage).
We started the game with a bang. From the kick off we faced a very tough Builth defence but in going through the phases we earned a scrum on Builth 10 metre line. Matthew then executed the perfect scrum move with a pick and go or pick and try to open the scoring (7-0). Then, we went to sleep as we frequently do following a score and let the opposition back into the game (7-5), Builth followed this up with another quick try and took the lead (7-12). With some encouragement from the sidelines we had a penalty on the halfway line, Will.M took a quick tap and passed the ball to Layth who took the ball to the gain line and put Tom in space. He went over in the corner to score (12-12). HT During the halftime chat with the players and we spoke about moving the ball away from the ruck to tire out the Builth forwards and to attack the 12/13 channel. We came out in the second half and scored the first try again with Tom scoring in the corner (17-12). Builth then hit back with their only try of the scored half (17-17). We then went into a forwards battle with some of the best carries I’ve seen all season with Connor, Tudor, Jack C-L and Matthew all carrying hard and strong. Matthew then went and scored his second try which Layth converted (24-17). Then the boys recognised that Buith were now tiring, so they kept up the intensitty and pace of play and after carries through Connor and Tudor quick ball was delivered to Layth and he stepped inside and scored the next try (31-17). From the kick off Conner got the ball and carried it back to the half way line, Jack G had the next carry and quick ball came out to Layth once again. His vision allopwed him to see space out in the wide channels and cross field kick into space, saw Henry react and scored a fantastic try in the corner (36-16). Builth then had the last 5 minutes of pressure on our line but the boys' defended as if it was the World Cup final. Match of the Match went to Conner T with all his carries and metres that he made after contact. Final score 36-17.
