Brecon RFC Fixtures

Brecon v Newbridge

In spite of our best efforts we fell short. The players and coaches gave all that they had but on this occasion we came of second best to a very competent and physical Newbridge team who are now in a position to emulate Brecon’s achievements last season with the possibility of a League and Plate double. We are not out of contention in the league by any stretch of the imagination but if we are to be successful then we now have to rely on Newbridge being tripped up somewhere along the way. Having said that there is a long way to go and as we found last year it is not always easy to manage the number of games and the pressure as it builds towards the end of the season.

I should add that there were some unsavoury incidents in the above game and I know that some video clips were circulated on social media. I would ask that any such clips be taken down as soon as possible. We have been in contact with both Newbridge and the WRU and any appropriate disciplinary action is best left to the Disciplinary Board of the WRU.

Brecon v Nelson

It is disappointing to have to report that the home matches against both Nelson 1st and 2nd XV’s, scheduled to kick off before the Wales v England 6 Nations game, have been postponed as Nelson are unable to raise a side. That means that our next league action will not be until we play Risca both home and away on the 18th and 21st March respectively.

Brecon Youth v Pontyclun Youth Saturday 7th March Kick Off 12:30 pm

We do have one home match this Saturday when our Youth team continue their league programme with a match against Pontyclun. In the post-Christmas, re-organised leagues our Youth are unbeaten having previously recorded narrow victories over Rumney and Builth Wells. This then would then be a good opportunity to support our Young team as a warm to viewing the Wales v England match in the Club.

2nd XV

Our 2nd XV are likely to finish third in the Conference East with the team completing the full league programme of fixtures, quite an achievement in our first venture at this level. Throughout the league programme our players have displayed enthusiasm and skill while playing an attractive brand of rugby under the direction Alan Taylor, Team Coach and Lyn Parry Team Management.

For the remainder of the season they will play friendly fixtures and participate in the Conference Plate with matches against teams from across Wales and with the following dates set aside for matches:-

Quarter Finals – Saturday 18th April – Matches will be played at the ground of the first team drawn in each respective tie

Semi Final – Saturday 2nd May - Matches will be played at the ground of the first team drawn in each respective tie

Final – Saturday 23rd May – Three Finals to be played at Parc Y Scarlets
