It is with great sadness that we have to inform you of the recent passing of Club stalwart Mike Powell “Spike” who passed away at home on Monday 14th January 2019. His family Marian, Gethin and Gemma have asked us to make the membership aware of this and to thank all those who have already been in touch to express their condolences and for the kindness shown to them at this sad time.
The Club would like to thank and pay tribute to Spike for his immense contribution to rugby in this area and particularly his commitment to Brecon RFC over many, many years.
Again, the final whistle has come far too soon, for another great servant, character and supporter of the Club. For those of us fortunate enough to have known Spike well we will all miss him but be eternally grateful for the time we were able to spend with him, enjoying his banter, sense of humour and his kindness. We will all sincerely cherish the great memories we have of a fantastic individual.
The Funeral service will be held on Friday 25th January at Brecon Cathedral at 13:00 and Brecon Cemetery (family only), followed by wake at Brecon Rugby Club. Family flowers only. Donations to Wales Air Ambulance and/or Brecon Rugby Football Club (contributing to Brecon RFC Minis & Jnrs Rugby Shirts).
